Prerequisite Requirements

Students enrolling in advanced individual courses may use verifiable work experience to satisfy course prerequisites. Students must submit two references from individuals who are currently employed where the work experience is being referenced. The references must be able to articulate the students’ day-to-day duties and types of welding performed on the job. Reference contact information must be sent to the Institute at least 2 weeks before the start of their desired course.

Students also have the option of utilizing current welder qualification and current welder certification records. Students attempting to utilize these records must send copies to the Institute at least 2 weeks before the start of their desired course. The records will be reviewed to ensure they meet or exceed the prerequisite criteria.

Note: HIWT will review all student requests to bypass prerequisite courses on a case-by-case basis to determine eligibility.
