The American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector certification is becoming increasingly important and growing in demand. Companies and educational institutions require certification of their welding inspectors and welding educators to comply with projects, contracts, and employment qualifications. The AWS CWI Exam is a challenging three-part exam designed to evaluate your fundamental knowledge of welding and related principles, your practical application of specifications and inspection skills, and your ability to navigate, interpret, and apply codes and specifications accurately.

This two-week exam prep course will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary for all three parts of the AWS CWI Exam. The three-part exam includes some of the objectives listed below:

Part A – Fundamentals

  • Welding Processes
  • Symbols, Definitions and Terminology
  • Non-Destructive and Destructive Testing
  • Metallurgy
  • Duties and Responsibilities

Part B – Practical

  • Welding Inspection and Flaws
  • Procedure and Welder Qualifications
  • Utilization of Specifications

Part C – Code (D1.1 or API 1104)

  • Qualification
  • Fabrication
  • Inspection, Reports and Records

Our course is continuously updated to ensure that the content aligns with the relevant content areas, testing domains, and literature referenced in the AWS Examination Guides for Parts A, B, C, and AWS B5.1. During the course, you will work with the same AWS Toolkits used for the Part B Examination, as well as similar plastic weld replicas.

If you find you have a weakness in a specific subject, this course will address those gaps and provide you with the knowledge you need to be successful.

Important Notes:

  • At the end of the two-week course, we will conduct the Part B Exam on the second Friday of the course.
  • It is the responsibility of the participant to complete the AWS CWI Exam Application, and to be scheduled by the Qualification and Certification Department of the American Welding Society.
  • The American Welding Society requires a minimum of eight (8) weeks to process the applications for the test. They do offer fast track applications for an additional fee.
  • A scientific hand calculator, highlighters, tabs, backpacks & weld template are provide.
