Upon completion of the course, the student should have the ability to properly layout, fit and weld piping, improving the student’s employability in pipefitting positions.
Prerequisites: The student must have successfully passed the HIWT Pipe Layout for Fitters & Welders I course. No prerequisites are permitted for this course.
Course objective: To further improve the student’s proficiency of layout and fabrication of typical pipe connections and to use mathematics, equations and charts for properly fabricating and welding these connections.
Course content: This course provides the student with an understanding of offsets around obstructions, threaded connections, industrial pipe bends, valve identification, and methods adopted from various pipe fitting handbooks on piping blueprints.
Testing: To pass this course, the student is required to take seven written tests and must demonstrate their ability to properly layout and assemble a piping system from a print.
