CRAIG SNYDER EARNS SCHOLARSHIP FROM HOBART
INSTITUTE
Craig Joseph Snyder of Vermilion, Ohio,
is the recipient of the Raymond C. Dunlavy
Scholarship awarded by the Hobart Institute of
Welding Technology.
Craig, the son of Craig M. and JoAnne Snyder,
is a January 2004 graduate of Vermilion High School
and EHOVE Career Center in Milan, Ohio.
Craig will be applying the scholarship toward a
nine-month Combination
Structural and Pipe Welding Program at the
Hobart Institute.
“From a very young age, I have been interested in
working with my hands and have never passed up the
opportunity to take apart and rebuild a wagon or
bike,” says Craig.
“The idea of creating something from a
piece of raw material is an exciting aspect to me in
the field of welding.”
Charles E. Livermore, Welding Instructor at EHOVE
Career Center explains, “Craig was involved in a 5th
quarter program in which an individual must maintain
a B+ grade average in all curriculum and cannot miss
more than three days of school for the year.
To meet these requirements, the student is in
an intern program in the field of welding.
He receives a paycheck and, during his senior
year, he may work at his employment and it is
credited as his lab.
Craig decided not to co-op his senior year,
but rather to get more hands on experience and to
learn other processes.”
“As
a student, he is intelligent and articulate,” says
Dona Faust, EHOVE Career Center Counselor.
“I am impressed by his attitudes and deep
desire to learn.
He always wants to excel, thus putting forth
maximum effort.
He is truly a role model for his peers.”
The Raymond C. Dunlavy
Scholarship is one of three scholarships offered
each year by the Hobart Institute of Welding
Technology. The
two other scholarships are the Howard B. Cary
Scholarship (application deadline August 1) and the
Robert Bercaw Scholarship (application deadline
April 1). The
Hobart Institute honors scholarships awarded by
other organizations or individuals including the
American Welding Society, the Joseph Capra
Scholarships, and scholarships that are presented on
a local basis.
The Hobart Institute does not discriminate on
the basis of disability, race, color, religion, sex,
