The
Hobart Institute of Welding Technology Introduces
New Gas Tungsten Arc Welding Curriculum on DVD
Troy,
Ohio – January 13, 2004 - This new,
state-of-the-art, 33-module GTAW curriculum (available
on 4 DVDs or 7 VHS tapes) covers carbon steel,
stainless steel (with and without pulsation) and
aluminum. Modular design makes the curriculum easily
adaptable to any training environment, including
Open Entry/Open Exit. The course is based on the AWS
S.E.N.S.E. requirements as specified in QC10 and
EG2.0.
Skill
modules feature arc shots with compelling close-up
views of the puddle from the welder's perspective to
model proper manipulation techniques. Theory modules
make extensive use of computer graphics and 3D
animation to illustrate key concepts including the
metallurgy and weldability of carbon steel,
stainless steel and aluminum.
The
Instructor Guide
provides a comprehensive lesson plan in an
easy-to-follow, 5-column format with performance
objectives, suggested practice times, required
materials and machine settings, evaluation
methodologies, and a complete script of what to do
and say to implement each topic. The Instructor
Guide is filled with questions to reinforce key
information as well as helpful hints and
implementation suggestions throughout. It also
includes Answer Keys for the 4 written tests that
accompany the curriculum.
The
student workbook is divided into the same topics as
the video. The workbook provides an easy-to-follow
"recipe" format for recreating the welds
demonstrated in skill modules. The pictures in the
workbook are taken directly from the DVD to
facilitate skill transfer. The workbook also
provides a summary of the essential theory covered
in the course.
A
complete course description is available on the
Hobart Institute of Welding Technology's website at www.welding.org.
