HOBART INSTITUTE RELEASES NEW INSTRUCTIONAL
PROGRAMS
FOR GAS TUNGSTEN ARC WELDING OF PIPE

Two new training programs have been released by
Hobart Institute of Welding Technology.
The first,
Gas Tungsten
Arc Welding of 2-inch Pipe provides a
step-by-step explanation of how to weld mild steel
pipe in the 2G, 5G, and 6G welding positions using
the gas tungsten arc welding process.
The training materials package includes 2 DVD’s (1
hour 30 minutes), one instructor guide, and one
written test (50 copies).
The instructor guide consists of the
curriculum guide, one student workbook, one
technical guide, and an answer key for the test.
The student workbooks are also sold individually and
contain a course overview and introduction, safety
information, equipment management, joint
preparation, welding and visual inspection for 2G,
5G, and 6G pipe welds.
The second program,
Gas Tungsten
Arc Welding – Shielded Metal Arc Welding of 6-inch
Pipe is the second portion developed to
complete the TIG pipe course.
This package includes 2 DVD’s (2 hours 15
minutes), one instructor guide, and two written
tests (50 copies).
The instructor guide consists of the
curriculum guide, one student workbook, one
technical guide, and an answer key for the tests.
Student workbooks for this are also sold
individually and contain a course overview and
introduction, safety information, preparation and
assembly of an open root pipe joint, welding of 2G,
5G, and 6G pipe welds in mild and stainless steel,
and pipe weld quality.
Use of consumable inserts is also covered in
this material.
These two new programs are the replacement material
for the previous edition of
Gas Tungsten
Arc Welding Pipe and Tubing.
Completely new arc shots in the DVD are
exceptional and photos in the workbooks are
exceedingly clear and the text is concise.
