MESSAGE BEARS
REPEATING – INDUSTRY NEEDS SKILLED WELDERS
A late-summer
gathering at
Apollo Career Center in Allen County, Ohio, brought
together manufacturers, educators, and politicians to
address the needs of manufacturers. In a three-hour
meeting, discussion centered on training for skilled
positions in welding, electricity, machine programming and
other trades to meet the needs of industry. The message is
one that is often heard throughout the country –
industry needs skilled workers today!
“We are a
job shop,” said Troy Breidenbach with
Diamond Machines in
Delphos, Ohio. “We don’t have time to send someone to
training. We need people with basic skills when they come
in.”
Hobart
Institute’s
Bob Fisher was on hand to explain how Hobart Institute
can assist through training opportunities and job placement
of graduates.
“I also
highlighted the job bank we have available at
www.welding.org,” says Bob. “Companies may list their
job openings free of charge for our graduates.”
Hobart
Institute also works with companies to provide short or
long-term specialized training and certification for
welders. If your company has a need for welders or training
and certification, contact the Institute at 1-800-332-9448
or
hiwt@welding.org.
