Hobart Brothers
Company Celebrates 90 Years of Quality, Innovation
TROY, Ohio. August 29, 2007 -
Hobart Brothers Company celebrated the company’s 90th
anniversary during a company-wide event at its headquarters
in Troy, Ohio, this
past fall. The event consisted of a luncheon attended by
employees and city officials, including Mayor Michael L.
Beamish, who delivered a proclamation to celebrate this
business milestone and to recognize the company’s ongoing
contributions to the Troy community.
Also in attendance were Scott
Santi, Executive Vice President,
Illinois Tool Works (ITW),
parent company of Hobart Brothers, and Grant Harvey, vice
president of Hobart Brothers North American tubular wire
division, both of whom spoke of the importance of the
anniversary and the company’s 690 employees.
“During the past 90 years,
Hobart Brothers Company has built up a solid reputation as
an innovator and leader in both the welding and aircraft
support industries,” said Grant Harvey.
“I want to highlight how truly
unique and special this milestone is,” said Scott Santi.
“Not many companies survive, let alone thrive, as this one
has for ninety years. From a historical perspective, the
business landscape in this country is littered with hundreds
of thousands of companies that never made it close to this
far. Only one in ten companies survives for ten years, so
the odds of a company still being in business 90 years after
its founding are very, very small indeed.”
“90 years of product quality
and innovation is impressive in today’s manufacturing
world,” said Harvey. “Our employees are the glue that
holds everything together. We are all incredibly proud to
be part of such a fine, long-standing organization, and to
have had so many dedicated employees throughout the years.
We not only produce industry-leading products with
industry-leading quality and delivery, but we do it in a
very safe manner.”
In June, Hobart announced the
remarkable achievement of over 1.5 million “man-hours”
worked without a lost-time accident.
“We have 154 employees with
over 30 or more years of service!” Grant exclaimed. “And we
have over 46 employees with 40 or more years of service.
Amazing!”
“When I
think about this milestone and the remarkable history of the
Hobart Brothers Company, I can’t help but reflect on the
incredible number of people that have been positively
impacted by the company in some significant way over the
course of its 90 year history,” Scott commented, as he
credited employees, the local community, professional
welders, and customers with the success of the company.
“It’s an
incredible legacy,” Santi continued, “one that’s been built
through the efforts and skills of the thousands of dedicated
Hobart Brothers associates who have contributed in so many
invaluable ways to the company’s success and longevity over
its 90 year history.”
