JUMP IN EMPLOYMENT?
In an economy that has
recently been perceived as being lukewarm, there are bright
spots for welders. It was recently reported that “Welders and
cutters will see a 16.9% jump in employment” by 2012, according
to an article in
Industrial Market Trends by
ThomasNet.com. The
article was based on statistics by the
U.S. Department of Labor and
an article in The
Wall Street Journal, 17 August 2004, “In
Tepid Job Scene, Certain Workers Are in Hot Demand,” by
Timothy Aeppel.
Acquiring the
necessary skills for the job will reap benefits. But even the
skilled must continue to polish their techniques and keep up
with technology by continuing their education. In the past,
many companies would arrange apprenticeships but would now
rather hire those with the necessary skills for the job.
Displaced
workers often find themselves lacking in the skills necessary to
compete in the workplace and a few months of retraining will
quickly pay back for their time spent at the
Hobart Institute of Welding
Technology.
Skill training
classes are available to those who wish to acquire basic
knowledge and learn the basic welding techniques.
Technical classes are offered to those who wish to advance
their careers through additional training; and
laser and
robotic seminars are being offered in 2005 for those
interested in the latest technology.
Don’t let a lack
of skills dictate your career placement. Make that decision to
prepare for a strong career in welding! Visit
