Moose on the Loose!
The
Welding/Metal Fabrication secondary students in E.L. (Jim)
Eaton’s class at Sanford Regional Vocational Center (SRVC) in
Sanford, Maine, constructed this moose for the third and fourth
grade art students at the Carl Lamb School in Sanford.
The effort, coordinated between the Sanford High School
art students and the SRVC welding class, was motivated by
welding student Katlyn Bahmer who was the primary welder on the
project. Through
the use of 3/16” and 1 / 4” steel wire, the students shaped
the animal that stands approximately 6-feet tall at the hind
quarters. The
antlers and beard are constructed of sheet metal.
To keep it from wandering off into the woods, they
attached anchors to the feet and set it permanently into the
ground in front of the Carl Lamb School.
