Finding Solutions to Industrial Needs

PARADIGM INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGIES, INC.

While Paradigm Industrial Technologies, Inc. in Dayton, Ohio is still in its infancy, the connections between this company’s key players and the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology transcends the few years of its existence.  Training and certification of Paradigm’s President and some of the employees began when the men were employed by a major automotive corporation.

“At that time,” says Tom Poast, President, of Paradigm  “my employer had a need for welder certification.  Hobart Institute stepped in and filled that requirement for us through a unique combination of services that included training and certification.  Two of my current employees, Roger Krull and Gary Gregory, are Hobart-trained and I also received certification through HIWT.”

Tom has since retired from his position in manufacturing and he, along with Rick Stamps, Chuck Grandin and Fabian Lingg established Paradigm Industrial Technologies, Inc.  Having the benefit of years of experience and contacts one makes along the way, they are now able to offer a full line of repair and problem-solving services not often found in one company.

“Our goal at Paradigm is to find a solution to industrial needs.  We think outside the box,” Tom comments.  “Companies that call us are seeking experience and the right solution for their particular situation.”

There are many facets of services offered by Paradigm to include specialized welding, contract personnel services, maintenance and repair, preventative maintenance, fabrication, machining services, lean manufacturing, and health and safety compliance. Paradigm can also help with Maintenance Training, New Product Launches and Process Documentation.

“Tri-State Abrasive & Tool has used Paradigm to repair multiple milling cutters.  Every order has been on a “rush” basis.  The quality of work has been exceptional and turn-around time is outstanding,” says Bill Torbeck, President of Tri-State Abrasive & Tool Co., Inc. in Hebron, Kentucky.

Within the Specialized Welding area, Paradigm has the unique capability of welding cast iron, tool and die steels, dissimilar metals, aluminum, and stainless steel along with the more common steel alloys.  They are also trained in multi-processes including gas tungsten arc (TIG), gas metal arc (MIG), and shielded metal arc (Stick) welding.  The variety of work keeps things interesting.  Paradigm will bring work into their own shop or send people to the job sites, paralleling the “your place or ours” concept that is also followed in the training concepts of the Hobart Institute.

“Each project is unique,” Tom continues.  “We are completely customer-driven.  Whatever it takes to fulfill the customer’s requirements, within the wide and distinctive realm of services that we offer, are the projects that we enjoy tackling.”

Depth and experience make all the difference for Paradigm.  Having access to welders, plumbers, millwrights, electricians, machine repairmen, tool makers and machinists allows them to quickly respond to calls, including providing 24-hour emergency services to assist companies in reducing down time and reducing repair costs.

Not only do they reduce repair costs for their customers, they also save money for them by salvaging equipment and machinery that may otherwise require replacement at a much greater cost, thus generating a “win-win” situation for all involved.  And the customers do not have to maintain their own staff of repairmen for shutdown repairs.  They can just pick up the phone and call Paradigm.

Every time that we have called for help, Paradigm was able to provide us with experienced, skilled trade resources that had the ability to step in and build our product as if they were employees of ours for ten years,” comments Jim Bowman, Vice President – Quality & Operations for Sterling Production Control Units, Inc.  “Not only has the learning curve been extremely short (hours) due to the extensive experience of the Paradigm people and our internal structure, we were often able to build our product in a shorter amount of time with the added bonus of insight garnered from years of broad-based experience.  At the end of a big project, when Paradigm’s assistance was no longer needed, Paradigm’s staff would roll out of our facility, helping us to keep our labor costs under control by not having to carry someone for the balance of some arbitrary contract.  It is truly a “win-win” arrangement.”

Hobart’s partnership with Paradigm is typical of our many success stories in contributing to small business development.  Finding solutions to industrial needs is not only important to Paradigm Industrial Technologies, Inc., but is also paramount at the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology, where courses may be tailored to meet specific objectives of your company.  Professionals are available to teach courses and provide qualification and certification at any location in the United States or abroad.
