It’s time to have some fun!  The Hobart Institute of Welding Technology is pleased to announce the sponsorship of a 2004 Christmas holiday artistic welding competition for high school students.  The following guidelines will apply:  

• Competitor must currently be attending a U.S. high school or vocational school.
• Competitor must design and create an original work of art that has a Christmas holiday theme from metal.
• Some parts of the piece must be welded.
• Competitor must submit a non-returnable glossy photo of the work along with the application form.  Photocopies of the application form are acceptable.  They are also available at http://www.welding.org/downloads/
• Applications must be postmarked no later than April 30, 2004.  Award will be presented in May 2004. 

The first place award for 2004 is a Hobart Handler® welder that will be presented to the student.  In addition, the winner’s art will be featured on the annual Hobart Institute holiday greeting card and also in the winter issue of The World of Welding and possibly in other Hobart Institute publications providing recognition to the student, instructor and school.

Future issues of The World of Welding may also feature the work of other applicants.
