On August 9-10, 2002, the
AWS Education Committee and its
sub-committee, the Educators Committee, met at
Edison Welding Institute in
Columbus, Ohio. Topics of discussion included the
reorganization of the committee to better address important
issues facing the welding industry. Furthermore, extensive
dialogue was had on the S.E.N.S.E. documents, the free
Education Program for the upcoming
AWS Show in Detroit next
April, progress report on the revision to B5.5 Document, Image
of Welding progress, plus a lot more. If you are interested in
participating or expressing issues, please direct your comments

cpollock@aws.org. During the meeting, the committee was
given a tour of the EWI facilities and made aware of the
tremendous research capabilities they offer along with the
welding
engineering department of Ohio State University.
