RIBARDO NAMED TO
HOBART INSTITUTE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
At the May
meeting of the Board of Directors of
Hobart Institute of Welding
Technology (HIWT), Charlie Ribardo Jr., Ph.D., PE was
elected to serve as trustee. A graduate of
The Ohio State University
and Texas A&M University,
Charlie has over 17 years experience in the fields of
welding engineering, materials research, manufacturing and
management. He brings to the board extensive expertise and
education in the areas of welding processes, design,
metallurgy, and nondestructive evaluation.
“I am truly honored to be elected to the
HIWT Board of
Directors,” says Charlie. “In the several years that I have
been involved with HIWT,
I have been extremely impressed with the quality of the
students, former students, and dedicated staff and
instructors. I recognize the rich history and the important
mission this institution fulfills. I hope to contribute to a
successful future through many years of participation and
interaction with this fine organization.”
Charlie is employed by
BP America, Inc., Houston, Texas, and in that capacity
provides management and welding support to concurrent
on-shore, off-shore, and sub-sea projects. He is a member of
the American Society for
Nondestructive Testing (ASNT), and
ASM International
and he serves on the
Engineering Industrial Advisory Committee at Texas A&M
University.
The author of numerous documents, Charlie was named an
Edison Welding Institute (EWI)
Graduate Fellow and Outstanding Graduate Teaching Associate
at The Ohio State University.
Upon the appointment of Dr. Ribardo,
André Odermatt, Chairman of the Board and President of
Hobart Institute of
Welding Technology, comments, “On behalf of our

Charlie for several years as an active, insightful member of
the Hobart Institute’s
