LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
I enjoy
reading your publication. However, the reprinted article about
Lance Cpl. Anthony S. Loftin prompts me to respond because of
the photograph on page 5 [Spring 2006] showing the Lance Cpl.
welding in a tee shirt. I'm sure it is hot in Iraq, but the
radiation from the arc can and will cause skin cancer. As a
welding instructor in Virginia I'm a stickler regarding welding
safety. FYI.

Editor’s
response: I apologize for the editorial oversight. Safety is
of utmost importance here at the Hobart Institute and is
stressed in each of our classes. We value your comments.
~ Marty Baker, Editor
I
appreciate The World of Welding very much. Having been
interested in welding and around it since an early age, it is
always interesting to read stories about young people that are
excelling in welding today. Thank you very much. Keep up the
fine work. I enjoy it very much!
