HOBART INSTITUTE OFFERS TWO-WEEK COURSE TO
PREPARE FOR AWS-CWI/CWE EXAMINATION
The two-week
Preparation for American Welding Society (AWS) CWI/CWE Welding
Inspector/Educator Examination Course has grown in
popularity throughout the years and continues to be one of the
most demanded classes at Hobart Institute because companies and
educational institutions alike are requiring certification of
their inspectors and educators to fulfill employment
qualifications. The great reputation earned by this course and
the instructors who teach it is well deserved and is displayed
in the course content, dedication, and attention given in
providing students with a thorough understanding of the
material. Throughout the course, students use the same tool
kits that are used in the test kits for the hands-on portion of
the exam. Holding certifications as welding inspectors, these
teachers know what is required and have been involved with the
program for many years working closely with the
American Welding Society to
maintain high standards.
Following nine days of intense training,
the Certified Welding Inspector / Certified Welding Educator
Examination is given on the tenth day of the course to
applicants who have been accepted and authorized by the American
Welding Society. It is the responsibility of the applicant to
apply, be accepted, and scheduled by the Qualification and
Certification Department of the American Welding Society. The
Society requires a minimum of seven weeks to process the
applications for the test so advanced planning is necessary. A
separate application is required to take the course at the
Hobart Institute. The entire packet of information and the
forms are available on the Hobart Institute web site at
http://www.welding.org/download_cwi_forms.html or

This course at the Hobart Institute has
also been approved for military veterans who qualify for
Montgomery G.I. Bill
funding.
The Hobart Institute also offers
a refresher course designed for the inspector who is
required to recertify by taking the AWS - Part B, Practical
Application Examination. This is an intense four-day session
with the examination given on the fifth day. The class focuses
on the Book of Specifications, use of the inspection kits, and
non-destructive testing topics. The course also covers the
inspection of welded samples. For further information on these
two courses, visit the web site at
