HIWT COURSE WINS VA APPROVAL
U.S. military veterans may now apply Veteran's Administration
benefits toward the Preparation
for AWS (CWI-CWE) Welding Inspector / Educator Examination
course offered by the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology.
These financial benefits could amount to $ 672.00 toward this
two-week course.
Veterans who wish to utilize these funds must apply to the
Veteran's Administration for funding approximately eight weeks
in advance and be approved prior to registration. They are also
expected to pay for the course in advance and then be reimbursed
by the VA at the completion of the two-week course. This funding
does not apply to the American Welding Society application fee
associated with the AWS-CWI/CWE examination that is given on the
tenth day of the ten-day course.
"These benefits will certainly help make the course more
affordable for those who have willingly served their
country," says Elmer
Swank, Jr., AWS CWI-CWE, Manager of Technical Training.
"We appreciate the confidence that the Veteran's
Administration and the State of Ohio Board of Proprietary
Schools has placed in us as we continue to provide quality
welding education."
VA forms are available from the Hobart Institute of Welding
Technology by calling 1-800-332-9448, ext. 5215 or 937-332-5215.
You may request these at the same time you request the packet of
course information. Veteran's Administration funding applies
only to the U.S. military veterans who have been honorably
discharged within the last ten years or are currently on active
duty.
Additional funding for this particular course may be applied
from the TERI (The Educational
Resource Institute) Continuing Education Loan. Contact
1-800-255-8374 or 1-800-332-9448, ext. 5215 for additional
information about this program.
While the Hobart Institute encourages eligible students to
apply for these benefits, it is the responsibility of the
student to obtain and complete the necessary forms to secure the
funding.
The Preparation for AWS (CWI-CWE) Welding Inspector /
Educator Examination course has also recently been approved by
the State of Ohio Board of Proprietary School Registration and
recognized as meeting or exceeding educational standards
prescribed by that body. The course is designed to prepare the
student for the AWS CWI-CWE examination and covers such topics
as the duties of a welding inspector, fundamentals and
communicating welding information, along with a long list of
topics devoted to welding processes and testing that are
associated with welding inspection.
For a number of years, VA benefits have applied to the Combination
Structural and Pipe Welding Program and the Structural
Welding Program offered by HIWT. Both of these skill welding
programs are offered on a continuing basis throughout the year.
