PROFESSIONAL WELDOR’S
CREED
The following appeared many years ago in a newsletter from
Hobart Brothers Company. It did not
carry an author’s name, but it did reflect a considerable amount of character
and pride in the profession of welding and it bears repeating.
Let it be known to all men that I will do my utmost to live up to the
following Principles of the Weldor’s Creed:
- I believe that I should be proud of my profession as a WELDOR
- I believe that WELDING offers me the greatest opportunities for the future.
- I believe that I should do everything possible to increase my knowledge and
improve my proficiency in the ART and SCIENCE of WELDING.
- I believe that I should be ever willing and eager to exchange ideas and
experiences with everyone else interested in WELDING.
- I believe that I should keep an open mind for new WELDING PROCESSES, new WELDING
EQUIPMENT, and new WELDING MATERIALS.
- I believe that I should report HONESTLY on any tests of WELDING processes,
equipment or materials in which I may have the privilege of participating –
without fear or favor for any supplier.
- I believe that I should perform every WELDING task assigned to me in such a
thorough and competent manner that I never have the slightest reason to believe
that I am being overpaid.
- I believe that it is my duty to treat WELDING equipment and materials in my care
with the utmost respect, in order to provide longer life of equipment and
maximum results from the materials.
- I believe that I should not condone the improper care or use of WELDING
equipment and materials by others.
- I believe that it is my duty to expose any inferior WELDS that come to my
attention – either of my own doing or that of others.
- I believe that I should do everything possible to promote and encourage the use
of WELDING for every purpose to which it is adaptable.
- I believe that it is to my own advantage, and to that of the entire WELDOR’S
profession, to adhere strictly to the principles of this creed – and I will
conscientiously endeavor to do so.
