THE WELD OF OPPORTUNITY®
The Hobart Institute of Welding Technology has produced
for your viewing a promotional video that is also available in
CD for the computer. It
provides a visual tour of the Hobart Institute's facility in
Troy, Ohio. The
pace is fast and the message is direct: Welding provides a world
of opportunity for the person who is interested in hands-on
training.
Several former
students volunteered
to take
part in
the making of the video, each choosing to provide their
own, individual message of their purpose in learning at the
Hobart Institute.
One of those students was Jeremy Robertson. Jeremy was enrolled in the nine-month Combination
Structural & Pipe Welding Program.
When he began classes, Jeremy was not a stranger to
welding. His
interest began in early high school with agriculture classes in
Southland, Texas. Throughout
high school, he worked closely with his ag teacher who had his
own business in addition to teaching.
Upon graduation, Jeremy began his own small business,
providing welding services for farm and residential
applications. He
probably could have kept busy doing that.
And he’s knowledgeable about what it takes to keep a
small business in operation.
“But I wanted to learn more,”
says Jeremy. “And
I wanted to learn the right way.”
So he enrolled in classes at the Hobart Institute.
And he has ambitious plans in mind for continuing his
career.
“I want to go back home and establish a larger business of my own to do
larger fabrication work,” continues Jeremy.
He feels Hobart prepared him well to work with various types of metal
including titanium, aluminum and stainless steel, in addition to
carbon steel.
“I want people to think of
me when they need a welder.”
