Hobart Institute of Welding Technology
The Hobart Institute of Welding Technology
(HIWT) has recently been approved in the state of Pennsylvania
by the Bureau of Workforce Investment due to an increased
interest in welding training in that state.
HIWT continues to be an approved education
provider through the Bureau of Workforce Investment on the
Statewide Eligible Program/Provider List in the states of Ohio
and West Virginia, and we are pleased to announce the addition
of Pennsylvania to that list. As requests come in from
applicants in other areas of the country, HIWT will apply with
other states to provide this funding for our students.
The Workforce Investment Board offers
funding through two programs – the Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
and the Trade Adjustment Act (TAA). WIA is an act to
consolidate, coordinate, and improve employment, training,
literacy, and vocational rehabilitation programs in the United
States.
TAA is a federal program that provides aid
to workers who lose their jobs or whose hours of work and wages
are reduced as a result of increased imports. TAA offers a
variety of reemployment services to assist unemployed workers to
prepare for and obtain suitable employment, including training.
