LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
I like The
World of Welding. It has its place. I am a self-employed
engineer/welder. My story may be encouraging to someone. I
started welding when I was 14 years old. I purchased an
oxyacetylene outfit (1964) and it has been a love affair ever
since. I am a degreed engineer and licensed (P.E.) in two
states. I “drove a desk” for many years. Now I have my welding
business (8 years). I am certified for several procedures. My
accounts [customers] like me because I can design it… build it…
start it up… and make it
work!

I attended
Hobart welding school in 1958. I went from there to a very good
paying job and I am now retired. I think about the instructors
I had at Hobart… Ray Dunlavy… Jerry Pfister… Ron Fast (he was
teaching gas welding). Thanks again for good
training.

I just want
to say congratulations to all involved in 75 years of teaching
the art and science of welding technology. I am extremely
grateful for the education I received from the Hobart Institute
of Welding Technology while I was in Troy, Ohio back in 1992-93
and it has since served me and those I have worked for, both
past and present, very well. I continue to enjoy reading The
World of Welding magazine and wish you all the best in the
future.

75 Years of success
is quite a record! Congratulations! Your accomplishment says
“Good things don’t just happen.” It takes a lot of planning,
execution, and follow-up. We’re proud to serve Hobart!

You have
“The Best” by far training videos and materials. We use your
video series to prepare high school students. The vocational
school WITC in Superior, Wisconsin has used your programs for
many, many years. They gave me the idea. Keep up the great
work.
