HORNELL CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF SPEEDGLAS®/TEAM TORCH
SPONSORSHIP
Hornell is commemorating
the 10th year of its support of
Paul Le Sage, aka Team Torch.
Since 1984, Team Torch has been the exclusive welder for all
NHRA (National Hot Rod
Association) drag racing events.
“I’m doing
some very extreme repairs on 300 mph race cars in the course of
my day at a NHRA National Event,” says Le Sage, a certified
welder. “With a 75-minute turnaround between making another
race down the drag strip, time is not on my side. The
SpeedglasÒ auto-darkening helmet is a must in my world.”
For the
past ten years, Team Torch has exclusively used Hornell’s
auto-darkening lenses and helmets. “I can always clearly see my
set-up with the SpeedglasÒ automatic lens,” Paul continues. “Plus, the pits
are usually boiling hot during the day, so the breathable 9000
helmet is a major bonus.”
Unusual in
the racing world, NHRA events typically allow race goers the
opportunity to walk between the pit areas and watch the teams
work on the dragsters. As the premier auto-darkening lens on
the drag racing circuit, Speedglas helmets can be seen in
numerous pit areas, as well as being part of Team Torch’s mobile
welding rig.
Hornell is
also a sponsor of
Steve Johnson, a top contender in the NHRA Drag Racing Pro
Stock Motorcycle division. The complete line of Speedglas
auto-darkening welding lenses and helmets includes the Speedglas
Utility, 9000F, 9000XF, 9000V and 9000X. The exclusive,
patented “breathable” Speedglas 9000 helmet reduces CO2, heat
and humidity, so welders feel more comfortable all day long.
The peripheral vision Speedglas SideWindowsÔ
helmets increase viewing area by 100%.
The
Speedglas Fresh-air respiratory systems include Powered –Air (PAPR)
and Supplied-Air (SAR) respirators with PRP200-B Air
Purification and Regulation Panels that connect to standard
compressed air supplies.
Since
1981, Hornell has been the world’s leading manufacturer of
auto-darkening welding lenses. Speedglas helmets, lenses, and
state-of-the-art respiratory systems can be found in virtually
every industry. Hornell’s North American headquarters are
located in
Twinsburg,
Ohio, 30 miles southeast of Cleveland. Hornell’s international

Research & Development Department devoted solely to welding eye
and face protection.
